Andrea Penman
Marketing & Content Lead

“Matt is a joy to work with and his knowledge on brand is second to none. The journey he has taken us on is invaluable and it has been done with enthusiasm and expertise.
Matt has a way of explaining branding that helps bring clarity and direction for not only the company but for its people too.”
Janet Wagstaff
Marketing Coordinator

“Some people think brand is just a logo. Well you won't when Matt's finished with you. Matt brings a rare energy to his work. Not only does he operate with an unwavering belief in the power of brand but he also grounds his work in empirical evidence that is collaboratively captured and expertly delivered in an appealing and engaging way. Matt will show you the way and he'll make it look easy. He can show you the influence brand has on the management of meaning, on customer experience, on company performance and on cultural development.
And he will deliver it in a way that makes real sense. He has helped us to simplify and amplify, to bridge the gap between our purpose, our services and what our clients really need. This is by no means an easy feat in a marketplace as complicated as ours. “

The Outcome
Scape emerged with a clearer, more confident brand strategy and identity that unified Arc and Lungfish under a customer-focused offer. Marketing campaigns became more effective and efficient, supported by new templates and processes. Internally, the culture work gave employees a stronger sense of connection to the brand, and externally, customers experienced a more consistent and compelling story — setting Scape up to grow with clarity and confidence in a competitive market.
The Approach
OOver 12 months I worked hands-on with the executive team and marketing function. This included stakeholder workshops, customer research, and leadership sessions to clarify brand positioning and align the Group brand. I created a marketing campaign playbook, introduced new briefing tools, and supported the launch of a refreshed visual identity. Alongside this, I partnered with HR to design internal culture campaigns, embed brand values, and strengthen employee engagement.
The Challenge
Scape, a leading provider of compliant built environment frameworks, wanted to sharpen its brand positioning and marketing in a shifting market.
The Chief Strategy Officer, Chief People Officer, and Marketing Director asked me to bring clarity across the Group and its portfolio brands, while also connecting the work to culture, EVP, and customer experience.
